Steve Nichols, 93, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away on December 8th 2019 at home with his loving family by his side.

Steve is survived by his daughter Julie Baarstad (Nichols) and her husband Rod Baarstad, his brother Michael Nichols,  Grandchildren Brittany Bautista(Nichols), Stephany Nichols, Amber Baarstad and Rod Baarstad III.  Steve is predeceased by his loving wife Mary Nichols, his sister Sue Poulos (Nichols), his sister Harriett Kappos (Nichols), his son Steven Nichols, grandson Steven Nichols,  and Stevens wife Angela Nichols,

Steve was born in Cleveland Ohio on February 11, 1926 to Sam Nichols and Mary Mersinas (Nichols). Steve served proudly for our country in the United States Army. Private First Class company L 275th infantry 70th division.  He served in WW II  including being part of the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably discharged on May 20th 1946.  He received many honors and was highly decorated.

Steve was a graduate of Cleveland College Law School.  He was in the restaurant business for the majority of his life including owning his own restaurant Mr. Sub in El Paso, Texas.

Steve was the founder of the Greek Church in El Paso, Texas, St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in 1985. He served on the board for many years, president for most of those years. Steve was also the co-founder of the St Nicholas Greek food festival.

Steve was a proud member of the Order of Ahepa where he served as governor from 1992-1993 of the Delta district 16 which includes the states of Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas.

Steve was a devoted and loving Husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend to all who knew him.

The services will be held on Thursday December 12th 2019 at St Katherine Greek Orthodox Church in Chandler Arizona. 2716 N. Dobson Rd. Chandler Arizona 85224.
