Passed Away on April 16, 2019


Laura Lena Stoops (Hintz), 93, September 30, 1925 – April 16, 2019, passed away in Mesa, Arizona. Laura was born in Frazer, Montana to William and Lydia (Reichenberger) Hintz. When she was 3 years old, Laura and her family moved to Camas, Washington where she was a Drum Majorette from 6th grade through her high school years. During her senior year of high school she was a Cheerleader. Laura graduated Camas High School in 1943.

On September 29, 1945, Laura married her childhood sweetheart, Keith L. Stoops in San Diego, California. Together they had a daughter and a son; Nancy L. Sayer and William J. Stoops.

Laura went on to graduate from mesa Community College in 1975 with an Associate of Arts degree. Laura was a member of Love of Christ Lutheran Church for 15 years, a member of Amaranth Baa Hanii Court No. 9 for over 23 years, a member of Mesa Starlight Chapter No. 16 for over 60 years, and a Royal Matron from 1993-1994. She spent her life as a homemaker and caregiver to her family, and worked for Kaiser Shipyards from 1943-1944.

Laura is preceded in death by her husband Keith of 54 years. She is survived by her Children: Nancy of Tamworth, NSW, Australia, and William (Consuella B. Pockett) of Winter Garden, Florida; Grandchildren: Patrick G. Sayer of Sydney, NSW, Australia, David R. Sayer (Lauren) of Newcastle, NSW, Australia, Christopher James Earle Stoops of Winter Garden, Florida, Kristina Noelle Stoops of Winter Garden; Great-Granddaughter: Florida, Zoe W. Sayer; Special Friend: Suzi Cranmer of Mesa, Arizona; and Sister: Weona Meyer of Bellvue, Washington.

Services will be held for Laura on April 19, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7900 E. Main St., Mesa, Arizona 85207, where she will be laid to rest. Services will be performed by Pastor Stephen S. Talmage.
