Forever In the Hearts They Leave Behind

Katherine (Kathy) Marie Karkos

Passed Away on April 18, 2020

Katherine (Kathy) Marie Karkos, 57, of Apache Junction, AZ, passed away on April 18th, 2020 after a courageous 15 month battle with cancer. She passed away at home, peacefully, with her family by her side.

Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. She was loved by so many and will be deeply missed by all that knew her. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Larry, her daughters Kim (Zack), Kristy (Russ) and son Kyle (Rose). She is also survived by her sisters, Deana (Gene) and Gwen (Donn), her brother Donnie, and countless family members and friends. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, her pride and joy: Chase, Cheyenne, Taylor, Sheila, Seth, and Brooke. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Bernard and Maxine Augustine.

The family would like to thank staff at MD Anderson Cancer Center for their care while Kathy was receiving treatment. Each of you made the hours spent there more tolerable, especially one outstanding volunteer. Bob, we will never forget you. The family would also thank Hospice of the Valley for their care and compassion during the three months Kathy was with them. The work you do is incredible, and we are eternally grateful.

Lastly, the family would like to send a heartfelt thanks to everyone that kept Kathy close to their hearts during the last 15 months. Thank you for your support; the messages, cards, flowers, food, prayers, lunch dates, sunset pictures, and all of your encouraging words. It made Kathy smile and brought sunshine to even her darkest days.

The Celebration of Life for Katherine will be Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 10:00 am at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7900 E Main Street, Mesa, Arizona 85207. Service will be officiated by Pastor Ben Lee.
