Robert Scott Steisel, age 62, was born on February 13th, 1956 in Boise, Idaho and passed on December 29th, 2018 in Maricopa County, Arizona. Scott was the oldest of 3 children, born to Robert and ReNon Steisel. Scott’s father passed at age 50 in September of 1978, a veteran on the US Armed Forces during World War II and the Korean War. His mother passed at age 85 in November of 2011.
Scott Steisel, as he was commonly known, passed away on December 29th, 2018 doing what he loved best, meeting new people and riding his 2006 Harley Road Glide through the beautiful and serene Arizona Desert landscape.
Scott joined the City of Mesa on November 17, 2014 as a Construction Inspector I. His expertise was in buildings and related systems. Scott had over 35 years of experience as a carpenter as well as experience working in the commercial and residential home building field. Prior to joining the City, Scott had his own construction consulting firm and was a construction superintendent for several development firms. The job with the City of Mesa was one of Scott’s crowning achievements, of which he was most proud.
Scott is survived by his twin little sisters Catherine and Cynthia Steisel, his brother in law, Loren Miller, his niece Heather Mincy, his niece Reshea Rebenstorf and her husband Jake Rebenstorf, and his 4 great nieces and nephews, Alexander Steven Valenzuela, Bobbie Lynn Riley Stegall, Logan Robert Rebenstorf, and Brayley Shea Williams.
While Scott was technically the uncle to Heather, Reshea, Alex, Bobbie Lynn, Logan, and Brayley, he gladly became the father and grandfather that he felt they needed. From coaching sports teams to attending every recital and tournament, to giving advice, comfort, and protection when it was most needed, he was truly their father and grandfather.
Scott was a great man and very knowledgeable inspector kind of a strict “hardass” lol it’s crazy I was just on the scaffolding with him at the water replenishment plant in Mesa he was inspecting my masonry I looked up to him and his experience I’m sad to see a great person go too soon my prayers go out to his family he will be missed

This is Scott’s niece Heather. Thank you for your kind words. I dont know if you were able to attend his services on Friday, but I can tell you this in case you hadnt… it was the most amazing and jaw dropping gathering I’ve ever seen or attended. He literally had a presidential size police escort due to the overwhelming amount of people who were able to attend.” His death is “for me” a true loss of great proportions.
Scott was the tight end on our Pacifica H.S. Varsity football team. I was the right tackle and we played right next to each other for two years. I wish I would have gotten to known Scott as an adult. I will always remember him as an 18-year-old.
