Pearl Trejo Martineau

Passed Away on June 28, 2016


Pearl Trejo Martineau passed away peacefully surrounded by family members on June 28, 2016. She was born in Bisbee, AZ on May 11, 1917. Her parents were Jared Jones Trejo and Edith Annie McRae Trejo. She was one of six children and was raised in St. David, AZ. She excelled in playing the piano, playing basketball, and tennis during her high school years. In 1937 she moved to Phoenix, AZ to work and there she met Lloyd Elwood Phelps. They were married and had 9 children- Douglas, Patsy, Janice, David, Charlene, Sylvia, Gloria, Monte and Delbert. In April 1966, Lloyd Elwood and Pearl were divorced and on November 28, 1967 Pearl married Joseph Martineau. Pearl had six children still at home and Joe was a great source of strength to her and a good father to her children. Pearl dedicated her life to her children and serving others. She served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was always willing to share her talents of playing the piano and organ. She is survived by 8 living children, 9 in-laws, 63 grandchildren, 144 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. When Pearl married Joe, he had 4 grown children and now has 29 grandchildren, 96 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, July 15, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Adobe Villa Ward, 5620 E Adobe Rd, Mesa, AZ. There will be a viewing at 10:00 am and the funeral service at 11:00 am.
