Margaret Jane Bowman passed away peacefully on Friday, August 31st, 2018 in Mesa Arizona. “Margo” was born March 29th, 1935, in Marseilles, IL to Clause and Gladys (Carrithers) Meiners. Margo spent her early childhood on the family farm in Marseilles and later moved to Ottawa, IL. In 1956, Margo graduated from Kendall College in Evanston, IL. In 1957, she enrolled in Northwestern University Medical School and graduated in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
Margo relocated to Scottsdale, AZ in 1968 with her husband Chuck and their two daughters and continued her career in nursing. In 1970, she graduated from Arizona State University with a Master of Arts in Education. She transferred to Mesa Community College in 1973 as an Instructor of Nursing until her retirement in 1993.
Margo was well loved and respected by her students, peers, family and friends. She mentored new nurses, shared her knowledge and demonstrated her passion for the profession she loved. Margo spent much of her life volunteering and helping others in need.
Margo is survived by daughters Renee Martyka (Dennis) and Michelle Bowman, sister Barbara Kerwin, grandchildren Joshua (Terri) and Stephanie (fiancé Benjamin), and 4 great grandchildren. Margo was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Chuck Bowman.
A celebration of Margo’s life will be held Thursday, September 6th, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel, 7900 E. Main St. Mesa, AZ 85207. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
