James “Woody” “Eddy” Woodard, 76, of Apache Junction, AZ passed away on Monday, April 20, 2020, peacefully in his home, with his wife Marsha K. Woodard by his side.

Born Thursday, April 29, 1943 in Bennington, Vermont to Clayton and Mary (Brown) Woodard. Woody or Eddy, as some friends knew him, would be described as a car enthusiast, family man, fun-loving, and the life of every party. He always had a joke or two to share. Woody “Eddy” was devoted to his wife of almost 10 years.

He grew up in Hoosick Falls, New York, working on the family farm. At the early age of 17, Woody “Eddy” joined the Marine Corps. He served 4 years active and 2 years in the Reserves. After serving in the United States Marine Corps, Woody lived in Hoosick Falls until moving to Apache Junction, Arizona in November of 1978. He had a fulfilling career with the Department of Corrections and retired with honors in June of 2003.

His passion was working on and with all kinds of cars. There wasn’t a person or a car that he wouldn’t help if he could. He LOVED car shows of all kinds, all old western movies, enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and cribbage. He was always up for a road trip and adventure, Marsha planned many day weekend trips.

Woody “Eddy” is preceded in death by his parents and 4 siblings. He is survived by his wife, Marsha, 3 daughters: Colleen (Terry) Earll, Mary Jacobie, and Tina (Jeff) Butler; 2 sons by marriage: John (April) Hall and Chris Hall; 6 grandchildren, 3 grandchildren by marriage, and 1 great-grandchild. He is also survived by 2 sisters, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery performed by Pastor Ben Lee, where Woody will be laid to rest.

Services are closed to the public, however those who wish can attend virtually by using the links below.
