In Loving Memory of Gary Lloyd Hornbrook
Gary Lloyd Hornbrook, 77, passed away unexpectedly in his Mesa home on November 13, 2019.
Gary is survived by his wife, Betty J. Hornbrook, his three stepdaughters, Terri Wiltcher, Sheri Jordan and Toni Smalanskas, his sister, Karen Husted, brother-in-law, Dean Husted, nephew, Chris Husted and nieces, Misty Sand and Lorri Caulfield.
Gary was born in Phoenix, Arizona, on October 2, 1942. After graduating Mesa High School in 1961, he then attended Phoenix College and ASU. Gary loved his country and was a true American, so it is with great pride to share that he served his country in the Air Force as well as being part of the Air National Guard for many years. He enlisted in the military immediately following school then pursued his career as a Design Engineer and retired from Honeywell.
Gary enjoyed building and flying model airplanes from a very young age and until his passing enjoyed his vast plane collection very much. In the 1970’s, he raced midget cars for several years and absolutely loved it. Most of all, Gary was an avid animal lover and they were a huge part of his life. Gary always donated to several charities such as, ASPCA, AZ Humane Society, World Wildlife Federation and St. Jude Children’s Hospital just to name a few as he was always very giving by nature not only to charities, but to his family as well.
Gary was pre-deceased by his father, Lloyd G. Hornbrook and mother, Ruth A. Hornbrook.
There will be a private viewing from 11:00-12:00 p.m. with a graveside service immediately following at 12:00 p.m. on Monday November 25, 2019 at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7900 E. Main St. Mesa, Arizona 85207
To the family, my heartfelt condolences for your loss. Please find comfort in the knowledge that soon God will wipe out every tear from our eyes, and “death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things (will) have passed away.”(Rev. 21:3,4) May this promise give you comfort now and a real hope for the future. My deepest sympathies.
