Francis Charles Platchek, age 55 of Mesa, AZ passed away peacefully February 23, 2020 in his home. He was born May 18, 1964, in Philadelphia, PA to Dutch and Betty Platchek. Frank grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from Roman Catholic High School in 1982. Immediately after school, he joined the United States Air Force and began his journey in the telecommunications industry where he served as an OSP Project Manager and Business Development Manager.

Frank lived to connect deeply with everyone he interacted with.  Whether it was the grocery store clerk or a barber that gave him a bad cut, he made it a point to put a smile on their face and leave a lasting impression.  Aside from the general public, Frank loved doing ANYTHING with or for his five children.  The enjoyment he received from teaching and spending time with his kids was the light that fueled his energetic, positive outlook on life. At every chance he got, he made sure to tell everyone how proud he was of his children. His welcoming, kind, open-heart commonly left people warm and wanting more of “Sexy Frank”.

Frank enjoyed new experiences every day. From riding motorcycles, to fishing, to traveling, to snowboarding, to improv and dance classes, Frank always had a keen sense of adventure. He spent hours listening to podcasts and books, so he could expand his knowledge to reach others. Frank was always up to date on the newest self-improvement trends. Whether it be a new organic food, snake venom or cryotherapy, he kept everyone entertained with his energy for growth. Frank not only helped friends and family but left an everlasting impact on people all over the world. He constantly rallied the family together to volunteer at places like Feed My Starving Children and Paz De Cristo to make impactful memories while learning the value of giving back to others. He had an amazing way of always making others feel his love and know how much he cared about them.

Frank is survived by his parents; father, Francis “Dutch” Platchek; mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Platchek; sister, Bettyanne Platchek- Samarco; brother, Michael Platchek; life partner and best friend Rhonda Platchek, sons Justin and spouse Jenna, Logan and spouse Kenzie, Kyle and spouse Kristen, and Frankie Platchek; daughter, Laura Platchek; grandson, Connor Forsythe.

A visitation will be held at 10:00AM, Wednesday, March 4, 2020 in the Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7900 East Main Street in Mesa, Arizona 85207, with a Celebration of Life service beginning at 11:00AM. Frank will be laid to rest at Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Mesa, Arizona. A reception will be held immediately following services at Trinity Church Mesa, 2130 East University Drive in Mesa, Arizona 85213.

  24. jose torres says:

Having just learned of Frank’s passing has left me with deep sorrow and confusion to say the least. I know he would have me be strong and accepting but today I am still not able to understand how a young man living healthy can just be gone so early in life. I can only echo all the very positive adjectives in other comments on his life and on his passing. Betty, Dutch…I would have been proud to call your son, my son…as I know you are. He absolutely loved you and your visits every year around Thanksgiving. Laura, Frankie…be certain your dad was so very happy and confident in your process and progress of navigating your teenage years. Logan, Justin, Kyle…your dad’s big chest would expand even more when he would tell me a little something going on with you and your family. Rhonda, Frank was every so grateful and content on the wonderful loving family you two raised. I am certainly proud to have had him as my friend and neighbour for these last few years. I cherish all the “save the world” discussions we have had and all the walks, bike rides, meals and neighbourly visits. I last spoke with him end of January by telephone from Australia and we were looking foreward to our next visit upon my return later this month. Frank was the best active listener I have ever known. To say I will miss him is an huge understatement. To be sure, he remains large in my heart and head.

  25. Ed Parker says:

Worked with Frank from 2004-2014 and always enjoyed our talks, meetings and lunches.
    Sympathies to the entire family,
