Edith M. Miller, 93, of Mesa, Arizona passed away October 29, 2017. Former long time resident of Delavan, Wisconsin. She was born in Clayville, Virginia on November 20, 1923 to Randall and Mabel Barnhart.

Edith retired from Delavan Darien High School in 1991, where she was a secretary for the English Department.

Edith was an active member in many organizations and clubs including, the Walworth County Wisconsin Genealogy Society in Delavan, Wisconsin, the Daughters of the American Colonists, DAR, Colonial Dames, and the Amateur Artists Association of American where she received a certificate. She designed cachets for Walworth County Stamp Club from 1976-1999.

Edith had a passion for art so she took night classes for four years at Layton Art School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She also took night classes in silk screening, oil painting and calligraphy and participated in “Artists in Action”. She joined a four year Correspondence Course in Commercial Art; Famous Artists of America from Westport, Connecticut. All these classes paid off as Edith is now listed in the Archives of Wisconsin First Day Cover Artists and did the artwork and cover for a Circus Book (1970). This book is now framed and hanging on the wall in the Clown Hall of Fame Museum in Milwaukee.

Edith is preceded in death by her parents, Randall and Mabel Barnhart, husband, Joseph M. Miller Sr., sisters, Florence Crerar and Eva Metzinger, brother, Robert and great grandson, Martin Lovejoy. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Miller, Elkhorn, Wisconsin and two sons, Joseph Jr., Mesa, Arizona and Robert (Ruth), Delavan, Wisconsin, grandchildren, Lisa (Jason) Lovejoy, Murray, Utah, Tera (Nick) Theroux, Oak Creek, Wisconsin and Steven Loftus, Newburgh, Indiana, also three great-grandchildren, Natalie and Blake Theroux and Jackson Lovejoy.

Edith was laid to rest next to her husband at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery in Mesa, Arizona.
