Passed Away on March 25, 2017


Constance “Koni” Ward, 76, died March 25, 2017 at her home in Queen Creek, Arizona surrounded by loving family.

Koni was born June 9, 1940 in Snowflake Arizona to James Kimball and Inez Brewer.  Koni was married to Steven Samuel Ward in Carson City, Nevada on October 28, 1967. They were married 47 years until Steven’s death in 2014 and were long-time residents of Rock Springs, Wyoming.

Koni was a loving mother and homemaker and was a caregiver for years to many children that she loved as her own.  She was an avid reader and loquacious friend to all who knew her. Her family was the most important thing to her and she always imparted her sense of kindness, generosity, humor and forgiveness to all those around her.

Koni is survived by her four children; Dallas Ward and his wife Christine, Brett Ward, Steffani Gatley and her husband Christopher, and Libby Smith and her husband Dane; her four grandchildren Kevon Ward, Eric Ward, Siona Gatley and Evellia Smith; her brothers Greg, Mack and Doug Brewer; her niece Michelle Gill as well as many other family members who held her in their hearts. Koni is preceded in death by her husband Steven, her parents James and Inez Brewer, her sister Marva Kae Heath and her brother James Kim Brewer.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 31 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 22035 E Ocotillo Road at 4 P.M. Burial will be held at noon on Saturday April 1 at Clay Springs Cemetery in Clay Springs, Arizona.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Maricopa Animal Safe Haven (MASH) or the American Cancer Society.
