Catherine (Cathy) Ann (Martin) Jones, 77, surrounded by family ascended to heaven due to complications from Pneumonia, on  Saturday, March 11th, joining her husband George Jones and  nephew Steven Boyd Parizek.  She’s survived by her son’s family, Les & Melissa Saltzman, and granddaughter Breanna Brooks.    Her sister and brother in law, Dr. A. Keith & Marilyn Parizek and nephew’s families Dan Parizek & Tammy Kehl, Richard (Rick) & Jay Parizek, Martin (Marty) & Kathy Parizek, and Julie Parizek.  Also a large loving extended family of grandnieces/nephews, great grand nieces/nephews. As well as her stepchildren, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, Claude & Cindy Reaves, George Jones, Jr., and Trey & Jennifer Fox.  In addition to an innumerable amount of wonderful & dear friends.

Cathy was the second child born to Lorena Dawn (Jones) Martin and Boyd Harley Martin on August 15, 1939 in Des Moines, Iowa.  She graduated from West Liberty High School, class of 1957.  She was an accomplished classical flutist and vocalist where she attended the University of Iowa pursuing music.  She moved to Arizona in 1962 with her husband Dennis Saltzman joining her sister Marilyn’s family.  Before retiring, she worked as an  Administrative Assistant for an Interior Design firm in Scottsdale.  She was a proficient Master Gardner and spent numerous hours tending to grand gardens all over the valley.  She enjoyed playing golf and visited many of the courses Arizona has to offer.  She was also a very proud member of the Phoenix Symphony as a vocalist.  She enjoyed traveling abroad and in the states, with her sister taking numerous trips together.  She was an avid collector of family genealogy records for the Jones, Martin, Norton and Evans families.  She affectionately knitted blankets for all the children born into our family, which will be forever treasured.  She cherished her church and donated countless hours volunteering in the office and preparing the pews for Sunday services.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at Red Mountain United Methodist Church on Wednesday, April 5th at 10:00am. The church is located at 2936 North Power Road Mesa 85215.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to the children’s youth ministry at Red Mountain United Methodist Church.  Thank you.
