A Memorial service for Bonnie Brahm Adkins, 88, a resident of Mesa, will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday March 3, 2018 at Church Of The Redeemer, 717 N. Stapley Drive, Mesa, AZ. The viewing will be held prior to the
Memorial service from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. A reception will follow the Memorial service in Lloyd Hall at the Church.
Bonnie Adkins was born in Hopkins County, Kentucky on January 2, 1930. She entered Heaven’s gates on February 26, 2018.
A consummate mother and homemaker, Bonnie was an excellent cook and loved preparing meals for her family and friends. She especially loved to bake sweets! She also enjoyed entertaining and her specialty just might have been throwing a New Year’s Eve Bridge Party! She was active in the community and worked for Arizona Bank/Bank of America for 18 years. She was also a sports fan, loved the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed watching baseball and golf.
Bonnie had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of Church Of The Redeemer in Mesa and was very involved with the church with assistance whenever it was needed.
Bonnie was predeceased by her loving husband of 35 years, Benjamin F. Adkins; 5 brothers, Oral Lee Lantrip, Lowell Lantrip, Amon Lantrip, Wilmer Lantrip, Otis Lantrip; 3 sisters, Lottie Mae King, Myrtie Marie Vandiver, Imajene Collins; and step-son Bruce Adkins.
Bonnie is survived by her son Stephen Brahm; daughter Pamela Wheaton and husband Robert; sister Margie Lou Shelton; step-daughters Brenda Allen and husband Paul, Beverly McDonald and husband Phillip and step-daughter-in-law Jackie Adkins; step-sons Brian Adkins and Brad Adkins. She was also blessed to have in her life one granddaughter, eight step-grandchildren, four great-granddaughters and 11 step-great-grandchildren.
Bonnie always had a smile on her face, an infectious laugh and a kind word for everyone.
In life, we loved you dearly…In death, we do the same.
Bonnie supported multiple charities and organizations. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Church Of The Redeemer, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Easterseals, Boys Town, Father Flanagan’s Boys’ Home, Disabled American Veterans, Paralyzed Veterans of America, VIDOL (Veterans in Defense Of Liberty), U.S. Deputy Sheriff’s Association and St. Joseph’s Indian School.
Great Aunt Bonnie you will be missed! Always so kind with a smile on your face! You had such a wonderful laugh that would cheer up anybody. We love you so much!
