Allan Benjamin Cluster

Passed Away on September 16, 2018


Cluster, Allan Benjamin passed away on September 16, 2018, in Mesa, Arizona, after an 8 year struggle following a stroke. A memorial service will be (was) held at Mountain View Funeral Home on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018. Allan was born March 7, 1942, in Wichita, Kansas, the first son of Ruth and Other Cluster and grandson of Minnie and Ernest Langenegger.

Allan graduated from Wichita High School Southeast and Wichita State University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He married his high school sweetheart, Sandra Raber, in 1963. Following graduation, he worked for Beech Aircraft before going into the Army. He was initially stationed at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, and then send to Vietnam in 1971. Subsequently, he served at Fort Knox, Kentucky; Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland; and Fort Polk, Louisiana. After leaving the Army in 1977, the family moved to Missoula, Montana where Allan worked for the U.S. Forest Service. Allan and Sandra’s final move was to Arizona in 1979, first Tempe and then Mesa. Allan worked for Motorola which later became General Dynamics. He retired in 2010. The Family enjoyed a number of camping trips in Arizona, Colorado, and Utah and the children were growing up. Allan’s wife, Sandra lost her three and half year battle with ovarian cancer in 2002. Allan will be remembered as a faithful husband, a good provider for his family and a loving brother.

Allan was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra. He is survived by his son Brant Cluster, his daughters Krista Fox (Jef) and Keri Blackwell (Jason) as well as five grandsons, Tyler Fox, Sebastian Fox, Colton Blackwell, Cameron Blackwell and Casey Blackwell. Allan also leaves his sister, Beverly Spiegelberg of Mercer Island, Washington, and his brother John Cluster (Dana) of Fort Worth, Texas as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
