Valerie Elizabeth (Stephani) Strouf, 69, of Mesa, AZ went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 with her husband by her side near their home in Mesa, Arizona.

Valerie was born on March 31, 1948 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, daughter of Arnold and Helen Stephani. She graduated from Manitowoc Lutheran High School in 1966. She was known for her caring nature and spent her life serving others, whether through hairdressing, teaching, activity directing for the elderly, or storytelling.  She was a devoted wife and mother as well as a cherished friend to many.  She loved the southwest and had some of the best times of her life since retiring to the desert.   Her faith in God was undeniable and only strengthened more and more in her last days.

She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Ken Strouf, daughter, Lisa (Steve) Goldberg, son, Lee (Kelly) Korak, grandchildren Amaya, Morgan, Michael and Greyson, sister, Pam (John) Roekle.

A Celebration of Valerie’s Life will be on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 11:00am at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 807 N. Stapley Drive, Mesa, AZ, 85203.  Visitation with the family will follow.

In lieu of flowers, Valerie has requested that memorials be made to Side By Side Ministry (www.sidebysideministry.org) or St. Luke Lutheran Church (www.stlukemesa.com).

Special thanks to Good Life Resort and to Hospice of the Valley/Friendship Village PCU for their excellent care for Valerie and family in her final days.
