Pamela A.
Mcquilkin
d. Sep 18, 2023
Pamela was only 62 when she passed away unexpectedly after a long illness on Friday, September 18th in Mesa, AZ. It's hard to say goodbye. We wish that we had more time, and that so much of the last year of her life had not been colored by her illness. While we know that she is at peace and that her struggles are at an end, there is pain and sadness. But even though she is gone, she has left the legacy of her love and faith. The ways she touched our lives will remain, and we ask you to keep those memories alive by sharing them with us and with one another.
Pamela was a strong, caring, compassionate person with a heart for the Lord and a gift for the love and care of children. She was a long time teacher, a role she cherished, putting an enormous amount of patience, perseverance, and faith into making her classroom a vibrant and welcoming place. She worked continually to improve herself so that she could support others, earning first an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Mesa Community College, then a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University, and finally a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Development from Grand Canyon University. She did all of this as a single mother raising three children.
Pamela is survived by her children Leah, Erin, and Kyle, her 16 grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. This family, and her role as mother and grandmother, was always the most important thing to Mom. This is where she drew her strength and joy, attending birthday parties, plays, music performances, and countless other events in the lives of those she loved, always cheering us on. She faced many challenges in her life, yet through it all, her love for her family and her faith in the Lord remained her focus, and in so many, many ways, she was able to show that love and faith to us. We are so grateful and blessed to call her Mom.
