Lloyd Gilmore Keilholtz

Born in Emmittsburg, MD to Andrew G. Keilholtz and Carrie R. Ohler Keilholtz. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during WWII, and worked on his parent’s farm raising food for the troops stationed at Fort Meade, MD. He was deployed to Fort Meade, to be stationed there. He was honorably discharged on November 29, 1946. He married Ruth Glass, daughter of Ewing R. Glass and Mattie A. Flannary Glass on October 18, 1945.
Lloyd and Ruth Moved to Hyattsville, MD, and Lloyd decided to pursue a career. Lloyd went to work for D.C. transit as a bus driver. He loved driving children visiting our capital and was personally requested as their driver many times. He worked this until he was involved in a bad accident. When he returned to the workforce, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service until he retired. Lloyd and Ruth retired to the Mesa, Arizona area in 1979, after they fell in love with Arizona during their yearly cross country trips and decided to enjoy the rest of their lives together, here.
God called Lloyd home on May 28, 2018, at Banner Baywood Hospital in Mesa, Arizona after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Ruth, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Mesa, Arizona on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 9:30 A.M. There will be no viewing. Graveside, masonic and military services, with a brief service held by his pastor from Velda Rose Methodist Church. In Lieu of Flowers, please contribute to the local or stat Wounded Warriors Project.
