John passed away on January 7, 2025 at age 82, born January 1, 1943 to the late John P. and Elsie M. Atkins in Lebanon, PA and raised in Myerstown, PA. He graduated from Myerstown High School in 1960, he then served in the National Guard 6 years. John relocated to Mesa AZ in 1977. He spent his working life as co owner of A&P Builders and was an electrician by trade before retiring.

He had a wonderful sense of humor with a laugh that filled up the room. He was a loving father and a loyal, honest friend always willing to lend a hand or a shoulder when needed.

He is survived by his companion Patricia Batdorf, his son James Atkins and his wife Tammy. His grandchildren James Atkins, Jr., John Chavez his wife Rachel. His great grandchildren Jeremiah and Judah Chavez. His brothers Robert J. his wife Jane, Charles his wife Nancy. His sisters Mary Johnson and Sally Dorak her husband Michael.  In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his daughter Jill Choate and her husband Dean.
