Hannah W. Bolster
November 9, 1933 to January 23, 2018
Hannah W. Bolster, 84, of Mesa Arizona passed away after a short battle with cancer. Hannah was born in Huntington, West Virginia, to Hannah Rich and Frank Charles Wallace. She is survived by her daughter, Hannah and husband Martin Valadez and grandsons, Ryan and Roland Valadez, of Longmont, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2008, William F. Bolster, and her son in 2009, William F. Bolster Jr., her parents, and 3 sisters, Patricia Stanford, Frances “Mike” Earhart, and Barbara Wallace. She is further survived by her brother-in-law Robert W. Bolster and his wife Alice, her sister-in-law Irma J Bolster, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Hannah grew up in Huntington, West Virginia, playing golf and swimming at Guyan Golf and Country Club, and riding and showing horses in West Virginia and Kentucky. She attended Marshall University and then worked at a Cerebral Palsy clinic. After a short courtship, she married Bill Bolster in 1961 and then spent 17 years in Saginaw Michigan where both of her children were born. The family moved to Longmont, Colorado, in 1978 where Hannah was instrumental in opening the YMCA, was a founding Board member, and then volunteered there for years. She was an avid golfer having been a member of Fox Hill Country Club for 20 years. Hannah was very active in the Colorado Women’s Golf Association (CWGA) serving on the Rules Committee in the late 80’s, then went on the Board as Rules Chair in 1990, served as Vice President in 1991 and President in 1992. She continued serving on the Rules Committee and Course Rating & Handicap Committee from 1992-1998. Bill and Hannah moved to Mesa, Arizona, in 1998 where they were members of Alta Mesa Golf Club. Hannah was an avid bridge player having begun at age 6 with her grandmother and played in many bridge clubs everywhere she lived. Her passions were golf and bridge where she formed many strong friendships in West Virginia, Michigan, Colorado, and Arizona.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Monday, 1/29/18, at Mountain View Funeral Home & Cemetery, 7900 East Main St, Mesa AZ 85207 with a reception to follow at 11:30 am at Alta Mesa Golf Club, 1460 N Alta Mesa Dr, Mesa AZ 85205
