Frances Charlene (Barnes) Fullhart-Spidel passed away  December 4, 2018 in Tempe, Arizona

Frances was born 24 July, 1929 in Columbus, Cherokee Co. Kansas.  She was 3 yrs. old when the family moved to Weir, Kansas and 6yrs old when they moved back to Columbus.  She attended grade school at Central and graduated high school at Cherokee County Community High School in 1946 after 3 yrs. of attendance.  During high school, she worked for Pearl K. Jeffery in real estate, abstract and insurance office then after that for DR. R.A. Wright, dentist.

Frances married Raymond Dale Fullhart 02 July, 1949 in Bentonville, Benton Co. Arkansas by Rev. Alfred Allen Eason, Methodist minister.  After their marriage, the couple made their home in Oswego, Labette Co. Kansas.  Frances was employed by the Deming Investment Company for 7 years.  One issue, a son, was born 10 June 1957, Randal David Fullhart.  This marriage ended in divorce 11 October, 1965.  From 1963 to 1966 she was employed as a bookkeeper by the Huntsman, RV mfg.

Frances subsequently married Dennis Lee Spidel on 1 October, 1966 in Oswego.  Service was by Rev. Phonce L. Mitchell in Oswego Methodist Church.  Frances, Denny and Randy moved to Atlanta, Indiana at this time. 1967 to 1971 Charlene was a Jr. Choir Director and PTO President for Atlanta School.  The couple resided in Indiana for 10 yrs. before relocating to Mesa, Arizona in 1976.  Five of those years she was employed by the Farmers Loan and Trust Bank and in Arizona she was employed by Clinic of Physicians and Surgeons for 11 yrs.  She was later an office manager for a pediatrician for 2 yrs.  Lastly, she was self-employed as an Arizona Medical Transcriptionist until her retirement.

Frances was baptized by Rev. E.S. Hughes, Pastor on 12 May, 1940 in the First Methodist Episcopal Church in Columbus, Cherokee Co. Kansas.  She was accepted by the DAR under National Number 744218 in 1991.  From this time on, her greatest interest was in genealogical research.

Preceding her in death, besides her parents, Rufus Edward Barnes and Marjorie L. Martin, were two brothers, Rufus Edward Barnes Jr. and Lee Otis Barnes.  Surviving is husband, Dennis Lee Spidel, son, Randal D. Fullhart and his wife, Kathy and grandson, Stephen J. Fullhart.  In Texas, two nephews, Roger (Debi) and Edward (Elaine) Barnes and one niece, Linda L. (Wayne) Heckman and sister-in-law, V. Jean Barnes.

A visitation for Frances will be held Monday, December 10, 2018 from 6-8:00 pm at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery Chapel.  A Funeral service and mausoleum entombment will be held the following day, December 11, 2018 at 10:00 am at the Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7900 E. Main St. Mesa, Arizona 85207.
