Dorothy Propp Mai, 89, was peacefully taken by our Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 7, 2018. Dorothy was born on July 17, 1928 in Billings, MT, to Henry and Elizabeth Propp. She married her sweetheart, Fred Mai, on May 17, 1947. Fred and Dorothy eventually traveled to Venezuela for his position with Exxon. They then retired to Arizona’s East Valley in 1983. Dorothy’s life was dedicated to making sure her family was well taken care of, and was a wonderful, supportive mother. Her greatest joy was spending time with Fred, to whom she was married for over 60 years. In later years, she especially enjoyed spending time with family, traveling to Vegas and Laughlin, going on cruises, and spending time with her good friend, Robert. Dorothy’s feistiness, strength, generous spirit, and humor will be greatly missed. She prided herself on her independence and was a resilient woman who always maintained her principles.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Propp; sweetheart, Freddie Mai; daughter Vickie Bernhardt; and two infant children, Steven and Cynthia. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Larry) Fox of Tempe, AZ; six grandchildren, Jeff Bermes, Darci Bienvenue (Bermes), Kendra Duke (Bermes), Bethany Bermes, Kristopher Bermes, and Natalie Fox; and seven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service for family to honor Dorothy’s life will be held at Mountview Cemetery in Billings, MT, to be scheduled at a later date.
