Dorothy Mae Propp Mai, 89, was peacefully taken by our Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 7, 2018. Dorothy was born July 17, 1928, in Billings, MT, to Henry and Elizabeth Propp. She married her sweetheart, Freddie Mai, on May 17, 1947. Dorothy & Fred made their home in Billings, Montana, where they raised their two daughters, Vickie and Debbie. Before his retirement, Fred’s position at Exxon provided him and Dorothy the opportunity to travel to Venezuela, where they lived for two years. In 1983, upon Fred’s retirement from Exxon, he and Dorothy moved to Arizona’s East Valley. Dorothy’s life was dedicated to making a good home for Freddie and their children. She ensured that her family was well taken care of, and was a wonderful, supportive wife and mother. Married to him for over 60 years, Freddie was the love of her life. Our Lord took Fred in 2008. In later years, she especially enjoyed spending time with family and traveling. Dorothy’s feistiness, strength, generous spirit & humor will be greatly missed. She prided herself on her independence and was a resilient woman who always maintained her principles. Dorothy was preceded in death by her sweetheart Freddie Mai; her brother, Harold Propp; daughter, Vickie Bernhardt, and 2 infant children, Stephen & Cynthia. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Larry) Fox of Tempe, Arizona; 6 grandchildren, Jeff Bermes, Darci Bienvenue (Bermes), Kendra Duke(Bermes), Bethany Bermes, Kristopher Bermes, and Natalie Fox, and 8 great-grandchildren. A graveside service for family to honor Dorothy’s life will be held at Mountview Cemetery in Billings, Montana, on September 15, 2018. Arrangements were made by Mountain View Funeral Home, Mesa, Arizona, and by Smith Funeral Chapel, Billings, Montana.
