David “Dave” Curtis Bingold, 87, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2018 peacefully at his home in Mesa, Arizona.  Dave was born May 18, 1931 in Winona, Minn. to parents, George Henry Bingold and Mavis Muriel Kerns. He graduated from Rochester High School and served honorably in the Navy from 1951 to 1955 during The Korean Conflict.  Dave, a Certified Quality Engineer, worked for a variety of companies including Honeywell and Ball Corporation. He was also a Third Degree Knight and founding member of St. Bridget’s Knights of Columbus Council 9800 in Mesa.

David married Susan, the love of his life, in Kansas City, Missouri on September 10, 1960.  Over the years, they raised a family of six girls and one boy starting out in Minnesota and then relocating to Arizona.  During their time in Minnesota, they renovated a 100-year-old farmhouse in Cambridge and enjoyed many special moments with friends and family at their lakeside cabin in Hackensack.

He was a life-long musician and guitar instructor, who sang Barbershop, played harmonica, banjo and ukulele.  With guitar in hand, he led many fun sing-alongs and created lasting memories.

Survivors include his daughters Elizabeth Gerlach, Katherine Karpinsky, Margaret Zapalac, Patricia Stevens, Mary Williamsen; son David M. Bingold; son-in-laws Michael Gerlach, Mike Karpinsky, Patrick Zapalac, Brian Stevens and Chad Williamsen; grandchildren Natasha and husband Rob Eckles, William and wife Skylar Stevens, Kevin Stevens; Michele and husband Jose Alba, Nichole and Kalley Karpinsky; Michaela, Kerilyn, Martin and Daniel Gerlach;  Jacob and Ryan Zapalac; Christina, Kaitlin, Nathan and Megan Williamsen; great- grandchildren Ross and Nolan Eckles, Carson Stevens, Jayden Alba.

David was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Susan Ross Bingold; daughter Nancy Cagle; grandson Steven Gerlach; brother Darryl Bingold; sister Loris Shada.

A Celebration of Life Service with Military Honors will be held at 10:00 am on September 10, 2018, at Mountain View Funeral Home in Mesa, Arizona.  At a later date, Internment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
