Caroline (Carol) Agnes Hart, age 77, of Mesa, AZ, passed away very peacefully on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at 8:00 am after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2000.

Carol was born in Appleton, WI on March 21, 1940, to her late father Arthur Kons Sr. and her late mother, Harriet M Kons.

Carol attended St. John’s Catholic School in Little Chute, WI.  As part of the band, she was a baton twirler.  On August 8, 1959, Carol married Hubert F. Garnier at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lewiston, ME, but divorced nine years later.

One of Carol’s utmost qualities was being the best single mother and provider possible for her five children, which she did with many sacrifices and determination.  She made every occasion a memory that her children will never forget, including homemade meals, birthday parties and completed Christmas “wish-lists”.  One of Carol’s favorite activities that she will definitely be remembered for is dancing – especially to country music.  She taught all of her children to Polka, Waltz and Two-Step.   No doubt, she is now dancing in heaven!

Carol’s impeccable work ethics brought her much pride as a security receptionist at The Boeing Company from where she retired.  Many other security positions she held elsewhere gave her a sense of self accomplishment, as she strived to always do what was right, work hard and never give up.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Arthur J Kons Jr. and Wayne Kons, and her sister Tess Cochran.  She is survived by her brother Ron Kons and her sister Angie VanGroll; her five children, Debra Garnier, Glen Garnier, Valerie Garnier, Audrey Martinez , Scott Pappas and all of her grandchildren.  Carol also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.

Carol requested a private ceremony in her remembrance, but the family would like to thank all of those who cared for her during her time of need.  You all will always hold a special place in the family’s hearts.  God bless you all and the work you have chosen to do so well.

Glenda Ramos, who was Carol’s caregiver for the past 2 years, who loved and cared for Carol as her own mom.   You are an awesome person and gave the family peace of mind.  The family will always love you as a sister.

Banner Hospice:  Lisa – RN, Pam – Caregiver, Tammy – music therapist, and Father John.

Debra Garnier, who cared for her mom in her early stages of Alzheimer’s.  Debra started the foundation of Carol’s wishes to remain at home.  She sacrificed much of her own life and kept her mother engaged in all the activities she loved, such as cards, cribbage, and dancing.  Thank you so much.

Audrey Martinez, who has spent well over 10 years taking care of her mom.  Thank you for your patience, grocery shopping, doctor visits, scenic drives to Saguaro Lake, bathing, feeding and entertainment and always meeting mom’s needs.  We cannot thank you enough.

Valerie Garnier, who gave her mother the best possible last years of her life as her primary caregiver.  She sacrificed her personal life to make sure her mom was extremely well taken care of.  She always researched better ways to make her mother’s life top notch and she would have done it another 20 years if given the chance.  Heartfelt thanks and love to Valerie.

Scott Pappas and Glen Garnier, who always maintained the house and yard for their mother.

Thank you to Mountain View Funeral Home in Mesa, AZ where arrangements were provided.
