Born November 18, 1933, in Mansfield, Arkansas, Mary peacefully left earth to be with the Lord on January 19, 2010, in Mesa, Arizona, after a brave battle with Multiple Systems Atrophy. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Carl (Buddy) Norried; parents John and Bessie Hurt; brothers Pete and Manuel Hurt; two infant brothers; sister Pauline Hurt Shiflett, all of Mansfield, Arkansas. Mary was a faithful, life-long Christian, and, as a girl growing up in Mansfield, attended Cumberland Presbyterian Church with her family. After marrying Buddy Norried on May 5, 1951, they relocated to Carson (Dominguez), CA, where they raised their three daughters. Mary retired in 1993 from Culver City (CA) Municipal Court where she worked as courtroom clerk for the honorable Judge Harold I. Cherness. Upon retirement, Mary and Buddy moved to Apache Junction, Arizona, ; Buddy passed away in 1996. Mary met her present husband, Dick Bastian, at the Crossroads Baptist church in Apache Junction, Arizona. She loved to sing in the church choir and had a beautiful alto voice. Mary also enjoyed attending gospel concerts, playing Bingo, and listening to country music. Mary is survived by her loving and supportive husband, Richard (Dick) Bastian; beloved daughters: Karla Thomas (CA), Kathryn Joan LaBeaf (CA), and Tamara Earnhart (AZ); grandchildren: Jeff, Tara, and Alana LaBeaf (CA); Shaun Earnhart (CA); great-grandchildren: Remy LeBoeuf and Crystal Earnhart; brother-in-law Robert (Bob) Norried of Stigler, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held on at the Chapel of Martin Funeral Home with a grave-side service at the family Bull-Norried Cemetery.
